The design and project management of injection moulded plastic, pressed metal parts and products. Structural analysis using Nastran finite element analysis. Fan design. Evaporative cooler design, manufacture and marketing.
Market studies for air conditioning and evaporative cooler products.
Preparation of standard spreadsheets to provide rapid analysis of routine problems.
I have been an expert witness in a number of cases, with generally an excellent result for my clients. These cases have covered both air conditioning and manufacturing problems.
I have a quality system, which is focused on meeting the clients needs at an economical price. My system ensures I keep up to date with relevant standards, EPA guidelines, etc. I am committed to delivering low energy use (and low running cost) systems within the clients' economic constraints. I review the safety of my designs prior to release for tender and prior to completion of the construction phase.
Concepting and design of a revolutionary quiet wall mounted evaporative cooler. The project involved the complete design from the ground up. It included selection of the fan and air passage shapes, as well as structural and other functional requirements. The project included the design of all the manufacturing processes. Currently we are marketing this product.
Assessment of the potential market for an indirect evaporative cooler in Australia. An overseas manufacturer had developed the cooler and they wanted to assess the Australian Market. The project included installation and testing of a prototype evaporative cooler in Australia.
Structural analysis using Nastran structural analysis software. At the time of first manufacture, this was the largest injection moulded, self-supporting tank for an evaporative cooler in the world.
I have prepared an error analysis for the testing of the performance of evaporative coolers, which identified additional requirements that are incorporated into AS2913.
I have developed a suite of spreadsheets to rapidly size equipment and ducts from a minimum of design input for light commercial air-conditioning projects. Many of the calculations are made using basic fluid dynamics principles or using fluid dynamics relationships to computerise published data.
Whenever possible I quote a job as a fixed price so that you know exactly how much you are committing for. Often risks can be minimised by doing the project in stages and only committing to the next stage once the scope of work is defined. Once you have explained your needs I will advise of the preferred way to proceed.
